TRADES WELCOMED!!!!
1953 Packard Clipper Deluxe
This car has over $125,000 invested in it from start to finish. Also, $6,000 was just invested into a new computer system and new fuel injectorw. The car fires up on the first crank and sounds great. You can drive it anywhere!
It is a concept car designed by Packard by one of the head engineer mechanics. He designed the one of a kind roof and took off some truim and detailed the grill a little bit. It used to have a 3/4 race flat head engine with 4 carb setup. Now that I got my hands on it, I changed the whole frame setup to a pro street setup ladder bar, diagonal link, adjustable pro shock coil overs with a 1972 Chevelle front end. The front and rear frame has been Z'd 4.0" and the rear frame clip was narrowed to handle the 21 inch wide tires. The shock tower was raised up 3 inches, the body was lowered 3" over the frame.
The dash has been custom made with an aluminum center console. The doors have been shaved smooth. All the lower rocker panel body seams have been welded smooth. The hood was smoothed out and cleaned up of all the trim and the corners are radius-ed. The rear trunk was also stripped of all the die-cast trim and the bottom of the trunk lid was raised up 4 inches and the edges are radiused instead of left square. I added a custom 15-gallon harwood fuel cell in a full steel cage plus dual batteries mounted in the trunk. Sunken electric antenna custom molded into the right rear quarter panel of the body.
All the body panels are hammer welded and leaded work with very little bondo work as a skim coat. The roof was chopped 4 inches in height and the fron "A" pillars are angled back 1 1/4 inches. Also, the rear of the roof sits forward 16 inches more than normal from most Packard's which sets this special Packard business coupe apart from the standard Packard sedan. The front splash apron in back of the bumper was custom made and the front bumper was chopped and welded and smoothed over and lots of custom work added to finish it off. The back bumper was also highly custom worked over and extended outward 3 1/2 inches.
The front grill is made up of a 1951, 52, and 53 Packard grill to give it a unique look. The engine compartment was stripped clean and smoothed over and lots of the engine components have been hidden to give the engine compartment a clean look. I went and added an electric windshield wiper setup instead of the old vacuum setup. The side trim on the body was also customized. The rear brake light housings have been modified and smoothed out--the fins were removed.
The engine is a special one-of-a-kind small block racing engine that is street legal. Bill Mitchell in Long Island built the custom made long block--it is a 434 ci small block Chevy motor. The special one off fuel induction system was handmade by "BDS" blower drive service in California. The unique enderle fuel injection with its wild stack setup really stands out, its fully computerized also. Brand New Computer recently installed. The heads are made by hardcore engineering from billet aluminum angle milled to 20 degree, 230 cc raised runners, 64cc chambers, crower valves 2.125" x 1.600" crower roller lifters and 1.6 ratio roller rockers, .680 lift crower roller cam, crower blue printed worked crank, Oliver parabolic 6.125" rods, 4.0" stroke crank. Steward stage 4 aluminum water pump, Steff aluminum racing oil system and pan. TCI race prep 350 turbo trans with a TCI 5,500 stall torq converter, Jensel belt drive, MSD Ignition System, Moser custom built bullet proof 12 bolt Chevy 4:48 full posi rear with extra heavy duty art Morrison axles.
The body was painted a unique combination of house colors candy gold with a tangerine and lemon lime flip flop candy paint with a pearl white flip flop underneath coat layering. The three shades of raspberry and pinstripe flame work across the body really helps to make this stand out and a very unique one of a kind paint job.
I'm sure I have left out work that has been done, there is just too much to remember!
Runs 4.74 in the 1/8 mile track
810 HP at the back wheels
